China’s Roadmap for CCS Demonstration and Deployment launched in Paris

Publication of China’s long-awaited Roadmap for CCS was launched on 1 December at a China-ADB side event at the Paris climate conference. Launching the report, the Asian Development Bank’s President Nakao, noted that the China-ADB partnership's roadmap will strongly support global efforts against climate change. The document, for which Carbon Counts provided economic and technical support and analysis, provides an important basis for increasing the use of CCS and CO2 utilization technology in the country over coming years. It gives an assessment of the potential, the barriers and the challenges in demonstrating and deploying CCS in China, identifies unique low cost opportunities, recommends a gradual two phase approach to CCS deployment in the country and, and provides complementary suite of policy actions to enable it.

The roadmap can be downloaded from the ADB website: http://www.adb.org/publications/roadmap-carbon-capture-and-storage-demonstration-and-deployment-prc
